Bitumen is a material found naturally in the environment or which can be manufactured industrially after the distillation of certain crude oils. It is composed of a mixture of hydrocarbons, can be in the liquid or solid state, and has a brownish to blackish color. Bitumen is hot-meltable and adheres to the substrates on which it is applied.
